In the three action packed days of the 2024 edition of Series Lab Hamburg, 20 professional European producer/writer teams got a chance to work with script experts on their high end drama series. "Each script session gave me something new and unique I can apply to other projects on my company’s slate", says participant Ruth Carter, Picture Locked Productions limited from Ireland who attended the Lab with Paul Walker, writer of the drama/horror series "Faerland".

The script experts were Claire Armspach, Miguel Machalski, Nayeem Mahbub and John Yorke. On the last day the teams pitched the projects to a selection of 25 international financiers, among them representatives of tv stations, world sales, funds and streamers.

Ruth Carter goes on: "The financiers we met were excellent. And I am already thinking of projects I can do as Irish-German co-pros because of one of the teams I met who we just got on so well with."

Also the social aspect played quite a role in the Series Lab: besides breaks and lunches, people were able to connect at the annual MOIN filmfund summer party as well as on a sunset harbour cruise in the port of Hamburg.

"What we always wanted was to bring together European creatives and funding sources at the very beginning of their projects to find interested partners," says Michael Lehmann, Letterbox Filmproduktion.

"We have been a partner of the Series Lab since the beginning and why do we do it? Because you get into contact with projects and because you can talk about content in a completely different way. Both from our commercial perspective and from a content perspective," enthuses Sebastian Krekeler, ZDF Studios.

"What's great here at the Lab is that you have the chance to present your project to international colleagues for the first time, in a protected space, completely open to the others. You get incredibly great input for your development!" Verena Gräfe-Höft, producer from Junafilm in Hamburg.

We would like to thank all participants for their trust, their openness and their wonderful projects and all our partners for your support! See you in 2025/2026!
