Producing Virtual Reality - Documentary Campus Masterschool

"Producing Virtual Reality" ist das Thema des diesjährigen Workshops, der im Rahmen der renommierten Documentary Campus Masterschool stattfindet. Erfahrene Produzenten erläutern Finanzierungs- und Produktionsmöglichkeiten dokumentarischer VR-Projekte, diskutieren die Vor- und Nachteile der bildschirmfreien Ära und stellen Best-Practice Beispiele vor.

Mit dabei sind: Phil Harper, der sich auf immersives Storytelling und VR-Produktionen spezialisiert hat, VR- Finanzierungsexpertin Annika Gustafson sowie Mark Atkin, Produzent der dokumentarischen VR-Produktion Easter Rising: Voice of a Rebel (BBC). Bei einem Get-Together haben Sie die Möglichkeit, sich mit internationalen Experten und Teilnehmern der Masterschool in persönlichen Gesprächen auszutauschen.
Die Veranstaltung wird in Zusammenarbeit mit der Film- und Medienstiftung NRW und dem Creative Europe Desk NRW organisiert.

Session 1: Routes to Market - How to Finance VR
Annika Gustafson, BoostHbg, Helsingborg, Sweden
Long based in Montreal, Canada, Annika spent many years developing her creative and business expertise in the international film industry. In 2010, she joined BoostHbg, a VR and transmedia incubator and fund, focusing on new story and business development in innovative media and film.
Annika works with creators who combine powerful story worlds with deep and authentic audience engagement, cultivating genuine commercial potential, and tools that will positively impact our world. Annika will showcase the latest trends in VR and the projects she supports. With her commissioner's hat on, she will talk about the challenges in financing VR projects for the European market.

Session 2: What's the Point of VR?

We are right at the beginning of the industry / reality of Virtual Reality. But before we jump feet first into this exciting new medium, shouldn't we try to figure out what the sweet spot is? As with any medium, there are pitfalls and opportunities. Phil will share his experience of falling into those pitfalls, and discovering new opportunities whilst he's in there!

Session 3: Working with Broadcasters in an Evolving Media Landscape
Mark Atkin, Crossover Labs, London, UK
Mark has been curating VR at Sheffield Doc/Fest and other festivals for the past three years and produced the BBC's first commissioned VR documentary: Easter Rising: Voice of a Rebel. He will share some insights into producing VR for a broadcaster and look to a future to where screens will start to disappear from our lives.
